So, after a day or two each in Turkey and Kosovo, we got on a bus with 40 Kosovar University students and headed to the beach in Albania. As soon as the students found out I speak Albanian, conversations were started and relationships began to form. The quietness in the bus was soon replaced with students joking around and making "hagjare" .... or jokes.
The beach in Shengjin, Albania is "katostrof"....the water is super dirty, there is trash everywhere with cows trying to clean it up for us. At 100 degrees without air conditioning, we all have become a puddle of sweat on the floor of our classrooms. Also, it is coincidental that my hotel room has no air conditioning, no light in the bathroom, and is located above the trashcans? Probably not....
Despite all of this, it is worth it. The spiritual conversations with the students are amazing. After only two days we have become incredibly close...I can't wait to see what happens after 5 more days like this!
