Dave and Athalie Lowrance

In 1999, Dave led his church, Richfield Community Church (RCC), in developing a ministry to the Albanian people of Kosova immediately following the Kosovo War.  Dave was part of a survey trip with two other churches that took him through Albania, Macedonia and Kosova in April 2000.

As a result of that trip, RCC committed itself to long-term sharing of its lives, and resources in Kosova, and began partnering with New Life Institute by sending an English-teaching team for the first of many years of English Camps in the summer of 2000.  Over 60 people from RCC have experienced the joy of sharing their lives and faith with Kosovars over the last 12 years, impacting not only Kosovars, but their own lives and RCC in a deeply personal way.

Dave and Athalie have been married for 33 years, and have two adult sons (one just married in October).  Athalie is a musician and music teacher.  She teaches string instruments to elementary school students, and plays her violin in various “gigs”, including the Rio Hondo Symphony.  Dave is just finishing up a year of going back to school (at age 60!) to get his TESOL Certification for teaching English as a second language, and is “stoked” about getting to put all he has learned to use at the English Camp!  He hopes to get a part-time job teaching English in the Fall, as he continues his career of managing computer drafting at a Civil Engineering and Land Surveying firm.

Kosovo has been a passion for both Dave and Athalie from the beginning.  After Dave’s survey trip in 2000, Athalie went by herself to the second English Camp in 2001. But since then, they insist on going to Kosova together -- in 2003 and 2008, and now, 2011.

While RCC is now involved with a different ministry in Kosova, Dave and Athalie are excited to join with their friends and past team members, who are just as passionate for sharing life and faith with the people of Kosova, for English Camp 2011!
